Public Review of Proposed NCPDP Standards Information

Public Review of Proposed NCPDP Standards Information Public comments are solicited on proposed new standards and proposals to revise, reaffirm or withdraw approval of existing standards simultaneously with the NCPDP ballot period. The NCPDP Public Review of Proposed NCPDP Standards period opens on Friday March 13, 2020 and closes Monday, April 27, 2020. Should you wish to submit an Official Public Comment, the Council must receive your Official Public Comment no later than 5:00 p.m. PDT/ 6:00 p.m. MDT/ 7:00 p.m. CDT/ 8:00 p.m. EDT on Monday, April 27, 2020. All explanatory comments submitted on "Object with Reason" and "Accept with Comments" will be reviewed at the next scheduled Joint Technical Work Group meeting, which will be held May 3 - 4, 2020 in Scottsdale, AZ The proposed NCPDP standards packets are:

    WG11 ePrescribing & Related Transactions - Proposed NCPDP Standards Packet #WG110090 for enhancements to the SCRIPT Standard Implementation Guide and Specialized Standard Implementation Guide.

    This proposed packet contains the following request from the listed DERFs:

    • DERF 1899 which requested to add “None of the Options” as part of multiple answer check box capability to the ePA XML format.
    • DERF 1900 which requested to remove MedicareBeneficiaryID from the HistorySourceID and NonVeterinarianID subset. It also requested to remove the Superset Restriction and non-used items from FacilityID, FollowUpPrescriberID, HistorySourceID, NonVeterinarianID, PAProcessorID, PatientID, PayerID, PharmacistID, PharmacyID, SupervisorID and VeterianarianID.
    • DERF 1901 which requested to revise resources that cover “Address”: SCRIPT and Specialized Implementation Guides, annotations in schema, online Data Dictionary and online ECL (code lists).
    • DERF 1902 which requested the addition of a new optional composite designated for use in LTPAC named ReviewingProvider. A new optional element named ReviewingProviderSpecialty will be added to the Data Dictionary and External Code List to enable the identification of the specialty of the reviewing provider.
    • DERF 1903 which requested various modifications related to REMS to promote its use as a vehicle to allow for electronic communication in the dispensing of REMS medications.
    • DERF 1915 which requested to remove section 12.6 Medication Elements FAQs as they currently all exist in the SCRIPT Implementation Recommendations document and are best positioned there since they are FAQs, and possibly subject to change.

    Approval of proposed packet #WG110090 would result in the release of SCRIPT Standard Implementation Guide and Specialized Standard Implementation Guide as Version 202Yxx# (Version number to be assigned once Board approval is obtained.)

    WG11 ePrescribing & Related Transactions - Proposed NCPDP Standards Packet #WG110091 for enhancements to the Formulary and Benefit Standard Implementation Guide.

    This proposed packet contains the following request from the listed DERFs:

    • DERF 1916 which requested a new version of the Formulary and Benefit Standard to be a hybrid of the Formulary and Benefit Standard Version 3.0 and the most currently released version of 55.

    Approval of proposed packet #WG110091 would result in the release of the Formulary and Benefit Standard Implementation Guide Version 60.
