Phillip D. Scott Contact Card

Phillip D. Scott is Senior VP, Business Development of NCPDP, a not-for-profit multi-stakeholder forum for developing healthcare patient safety and business solutions, including ANSI-accredited standards for the electronic exchange of healthcare information. Scott has been involved in healthcare for more than 40 years. At NCPDP, he oversees business development planning and operations, including engagement strategies for expanding NCPDP’s sphere of impact in healthcare. Scott has direct supervision and responsibility for NCPDP’s products – dataQ®, resQ™ and HCIdea® – and its product development and service teams, which help support the important work of the organization.

Prior to joining NCPDP, he worked for Miles (Bayer) Pharmaceuticals and McKesson Health Systems. He also was a principle with two successful startups. During his tenure at Bayer, Scott pioneered numerous positions with increasing responsibilities from Clinical Research Associate and Corporate Recruiter to Division Sales Manager. He was also active in the PhRMA Speakers Bureau. Scott was recruited to McKesson as a Regional Manager, but was quickly promoted to McKesson Corp’s Vice President of Hospital and Managed Care, where he was instrumental in defining and establishing relationships with health plans and PBMs on behalf of McKesson’s independent pharmacy clients. He and his team also re-established McKesson as a distribution leader in the hospital market. While at McKesson, Scott developed the first network of independent ValuRite Pharmacies, which evolved into the nation’s first PSAO.

Prior to joining the NCPDP team, Scott served on the NCPDP Board of Trustees for six years and held the position of Board Chair twice. As the Board Chair, he had oversight responsibilities for the business functions of the organization. Scott also served on the Executive Committee, Bylaws Committee and Annual Conference Committee. In 1998, Scott received the prestigious NCPDP TIME Award for his service and commitment.

Scott is a member of the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists and is a past board member of the Health Industry Federal Advisory Council, Health Industry Group Purchasing Association and the Arizona Society of Hospital Pharmacists.
